WOMEN’s rule: TFC artist residency 2023
We at THINK+feel Contemporary are extremely excited to announce 2023 THINK + Feel Contemporary artists in residence. This year our creative program is dedicated to women in general, and women artists in particular. We will welcome four young women who will be spending one to three months in Miami observing, enjoying and most importantly being inspired and creating new artworks for the gallery’s exhibition program. The first tour of the residency starts June 26.
Two of the candidates coming to Miami this summer are young Czech visual artists who have been selected for their art as well as their charitable and humanitarian work, - Marketa Kolarova and Laura Limbourg. Marketa Kolarova’s work is deeply feminine and inspired by her extensive travels and academic work in southeast Asia.
During her studies in the region Marketa was shocked by the reality of sex exploitation of young women and children. She teamed up with her classmate at the Prague Art Academy, Laura Limbourg, and decided to do something about it. As artists, their road to help was through art and art therapy. They donated art supplies to a local organization Afesip-Cambodia that combats both the impact and enablers of human trafficking and protects young women and girls from abuse, exploitation and living on the street. The artists taught them how to paint and created art together.
Laura Limbourg was also deeply affected by the reality of sex exploitation in the region and her canvases are testimony to that fact. Her paintings have become deeply mythical battlegrounds where the exploited women endowed with magical powers fight against the cruel reality.
Both Laura and Marketa are recent graduates of Prague Art Academy. Their most recent exhibition Dragon Fruit that includes works by Jan Heres, one of the last year’s artists in residence, is currently on view in Prague.
In August Marketa and Laura will be joined by Anne-Marie Vardanyan, a third summer THINK +feel Contemporary artist in residence. Anne-Marie Vardanyan, another graduate of Prague Art Academy joins TFC artist residency in Miami after a recent solo exhibition in Los Angeles. A figurative painter, this Czech artist of Armenian origin focuses on large scale intimate scene from her immediate surroundings. Her works surprise not only be scale but also by their profound immediacy and intimacy.
All the works created during the Miami art residency will be exhibited as part of an upcoming exhibition. To find out more please contact TFC gallery.

Filip Svehla
Both are recent graduates of the prestigious Prague Academic Art programs, yet they have already firmly planted their feet in the Czech art scene having found their faithful audiences among collectors and critics alike. Driven by their unquenchable thirst for new inspiration and light, even during their studies they are artists who also happen to be close friends and they have traveled extensively so as to extricate themselves purposefully from their “mundane” autochthonous surroundings. The resulting encounters with this new milieu has proven to be fruitful as it challenged their palettes and approach to their art; By distancing themselves from their traditional habituated approach they manage to accelerate their artistic trajectory and reach the next rung of their artistic and stylistic evolutionary ladder.
