Katerina Belkina's solo exhibition at the Invitational International Photobiennial Ostend, Belgium

We are thrilled to extend our sincere congratulations to the brilliant photographer Katerina Belkina on her solo exhibition at the esteemed International Photobiennial Ostend. This prestigious event celebrates the power and diversity of contemporary and conceptual photography, featuring the works of over 30 acclaimed photographers.

The biennial's curator, Stephane Verheye, has chosen the profound theme of "Light." Light is the very essence of photography—it reveals form, creates depth, and evokes emotion. As an instrument that is both technical and poetic, light is the primary matter with which photographers articulate their vision. Within this universal theme, Katerina Belkina presents her unique interpretation.

Katerina's solo exhibit showcases her captivating series Dream Walkers. These works are deeply inspired by fairy tales, particularly those by Brothers Grimm, which, as a constant in all cultures, mirror and solidify societal norms through their archetypal elements. Like any well-told story, these tales incite vivid images in our minds, sharpening our imagination and judgment.

Belkina's images occupy a unique space between the written and oral traditions of storytelling. While they beautifully visualize the narrative, they do not confine the viewer's imagination. Instead, they encourage a deeper engagement, inviting us to become "Dream Walkers" ourselves. In a time when cultural identity is a central topic, Belkina’s art offers a vital common ground, making her work both historically resonant and highly relevant to contemporary discourse.

We invite you to experience Katerina's evocative solo exhibition, on view through November 16. Enjoy a selection of photographs from the Anglican Church in Ostend where Katerina’s Dream Walkers series is on view.
