Markéta Kolářová (*1993) is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, the Painting studio III, where she studied under two well-known Czech artists, Michael Rittstein and Josef Bolf.

Kolářová finds her inspiration in science fiction, fantasy worlds, pagan culture, but is equally as interested in psychology, particularly human emotions, mental states, and introspection. Mysticism, mythology, rituals, but also the aesthetics of cinematography and personal experiences are other sources from which she draws inspiration for her works.

Melancholy permeates Kolářová’s works. Her figures and portraits raise questions about their emotional state and emotions they are trying to convey - an element that has become the predominant feature of artist’s work.

The soulfulness, introspection, the spiritual dynamism of Marketa’s subjects reflect are alluring and eye-catching mirrors that entice the viewer to immerse themselves in the world of mysticism and contemplation.

Kolářová has undertaken residences in New York and Miami and was awarded the Czech Art Critique Prize for Young Painting in 2022. She splits her time between Prague, Czech Republic and Manila, the Philippines.
