Ján Zelinka (born in 1978 in Vranov nad Topľou, Slovak Republic) graduated from the Technical University in Kosice, Fine Art Department (2002-2006), Studio of free creativity, academic adviser prof. J. Bartusz. Zelinka also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) in Prague.
Zelinka is a 2015 recipient of the Oskar Čepan Prize (Slovak equivalent of the Turner Prize) awarded to the best young Slovak visual artist. In 2016 he was selected to participate in the Residency Unlimited program in New York.
His recent solo exhibits include Sculptures, MVL Kosice, 2009; Miskolc gallery, 2009; Form and Contents, SG Presov, 2013; Re-form, Kunsthalle, Kosice, 2014; Under the surface, SI Gallery, Budapest, 2016; Slovak National Gallery, 2017.
Zelinka lives and works in Prešov, Slovakia.
